...Derek? Oh.

[When Derek hangs up, Stiles figures he knows what's coming, so in that fifteen minutes, he puts on some food. At least he could feed his man.]

In the kitchen.

[ It takes him about three seconds to stride into the kitchen and another two to come up behind Stiles and hug him close, chest to Stiles' back, pressing their cheeks together. ] I'm sorry.

[He leans back into the hug, and lets out a breath.]

Thanks, Sourwolf. I mean it. Thanks.

[ Derek knows loss. He knows Stiles does, too, knows that the boy in his arms has felt loss as keenly as himself, that ache that goes all the way to your soul. But Derek doesn't want him to feel that way, not now, not ever. Stiles doesn't deserve to lose, and he's been losing a lot lately.

All Derek can do is remind Stiles that he's not going anywhere. But he's worried that it's not enough. ] I know you do.

[He turns his head just a little, and then frowns.]

God, when you get that look on your face, I worry that you're gonna jump off a bridge. Seriously, I'm fine. Well, okay, I'm gonna be fine.

[garou]

[ A sigh. ] Alright. I just...

[skybluejeep]

Hey, I know.

[He turns around in Derek's arms, and smiles a bit. It's a watery smile, but it's there.]

You just want to make sure I'm not gonna crawl under a rock and sob for a few years. I won't. This is what I do, Derek. I set my jaw and move on. You know? There's not a damn thing I can do about any of it, I just have to keep going. That's all.

[garou]

You shouldn't have to do that. [ Derek leans in and nuzzles at his neck, holding him a little tighter. ] Not you.

...Nobody should have to. But that's life. Just promise you're not gonna cut out on me, and we're golden.

[garou]

I won't leave you. Not on purpose. [ He can't promise that he won't. No one gets to decide if they stay or go, here, and Derek knows he's no exception to that rule. ]

Then that's all that matters.

[He leans in and drops a little kiss on his lips.]

I've got some rice cooking. And some chicken. Rice bowls?

[ Derek nods, chasing after his lips to return the kiss. ] You didn't have to cook for me.

I like it. It makes me feel like I'm taking care of you somehow.

You don't have to do that, either. [ But he sounds oddly... happy. ]

Um, yes I do. Just like you take care of me. That's what relationships are all about, Sourwolf.

[garou]

[ He huffs softly, but he knows Stiles isn't wrong. ] Give and take, hm?

[skybluejeep]

Yup. You've had precious few people giving in your life, too. I want to show you I can give. And that you're allowed to take without it being the end of the world.

[ Derek watches him for a moment, and then leans down and kisses him firmly, closing his eyes. ]

[Stiles hums into it, and yes, he does feel considerably better. Okay, so cheering up with a boyfriend is a time-honored tradition, nothing wrong with it.]

...Have I mentioned recently that you're a fantastic kisser?

[garou]

[ Okay, he looks just a little smug. ] Maybe a couple of times. I don't really remember.

Careful with that ego, Snubbull. You'll have trouble fitting through doors.

[He moves in for another kiss, just enjoying his time with him.]

[ Derek huffs, and pulls away just before Stiles gets to kiss him, raising an eyebrow. ] Okay, spill it, what's a Snubbull?

...You never played Pokemon? Dude.

[He looks positively scandalized, and gleeful. Oh dear.]

Snubbull is a grumpy dog Pokemon. He goes around frowning every single day. He's also adorable and pink. He's you in Pokemon form.
